Will it fit my shower?

If the hose on your current shower unscrews by hand, it fits. It's the standard UK ½" thread.

Fits

  • ✓ Mixer showers with a hand-held head on a hose
  • ✓ Bath mixer taps with a shower hose
  • ✓ Bar showers with a hand-held head

Step by step

Six steps, all by hand

Each step has a short clip. Scroll and it follows you.

  1. 01By hand

    Take the old head off

Unscrew your old shower head and hose from the outlet. Turn anticlockwise. Most come off with a firm twist of the hand.

Tip Put a towel in the bath first. A little water will drip out of the old hose.

  2. 023–4 wraps

Wrap the tape round the thread

Wrap the tape from the box three or four times around the outlet thread, clockwise as you look at it. Pull it snug so it sits in the grooves.

Tip Clockwise matters. The other way and the tape unwinds as you screw the holder on.

  3. 03By hand

    Screw the holder on

Screw the holder onto the taped thread, clockwise, until it's firm. Hand-tight is enough.

Tip Don't use a spanner. Over-tightening is how plastic threads crack.

  4. 04A few seconds

    Hose into the holder

Screw one end of the new hose into the holder. The rubber washer inside does the sealing, so it only needs to be snug.

  5. 05By hand

    Shower head onto the hose

Screw the Avarmi head onto the other end of the hose, then rest it in the holder.

  6. 06Done

    Water on, check for drips

Turn the water on and watch each joint for a minute. Dry? You're finished.

Tip A drip at the thread means the tape needs another wrap or two. Take it off, add tape, screw it back on.

It drips where the holder meets the outlet

The tape needs another wrap or two. Unscrew the holder, add two or three more wraps clockwise, and screw it back on by hand.

The flow has got weaker

The cartridge is full, which means it's doing its job. Swap it for a fresh one. It takes about 20 seconds and no tools.

Do I need a plumber or any tools?

No. Every joint is hand-tight, and the tape is in the box.
